Dr. Haider Abdel Shafi Center for Culture and Development Engages in a Dialogue on the Arab Summit's Role

Dr. Haider Abdel Shafi Center for Culture and Development participates in a dialogue meeting titled (What is required from the Arab Summit).

In cooperation with the Progressive Democratic Forum, Dr. Haider Abdel Shafi Center for Culture and Development participated in a dialogue meeting via Zoom titled (What is required from the Arab Summit).

A group of intellectuals and political activists participated in the meeting.

The meeting began with a welcoming speech by Mr. Mahmoud Al-Sheikh, the forum’s coordinator, who pointed out the importance of holding the summit in Cairo on 4/3.

He noted that the significance lies in the dangers facing the Palestinian cause, particularly the threat of displacement announced by Trump during his meeting at the White House with Netanyahu.

Mr. Mohsen Abu Ramadan, who moderated the session, appreciated the positions of the Arab countries rejecting this plan, particularly the stance of Egypt and Jordan, which is supported by most Arab countries.

He emphasized that the idea of displacement contradicts international law and the human rights system and is considered a war crime and a crime against humanity.

He elaborated that the forced (or "voluntary") displacement plan falls within the framework of the resolution plan, aiming to eliminate the Palestinian presence in Gaza first and then replicate it in the West Bank, which is currently undergoing a large-scale military operation that has resulted in the displacement of no less than forty thousand citizens from the northern West Bank refugee camps. This operation targets Palestinian refugee camps, which symbolize the refugee issue, and is accompanied by attempts to eliminate UNRWA.

The participants presented many ideas aimed at ending the division and achieving national unity by working to implement the Beijing Agreement and strengthening the Palestinian and Arab stance rejecting displacement, as well as using political, diplomatic, and economic leverage to thwart the American and Israeli aggression against our people and their just cause.
