Dr. Haider Abdel Shafi Center

The Dr. Haider Abdel Shafi Center for Culture and Development (HCCD) is an independent, Palestinian non-governmental, non-profit organization established in 2014 by a group of civil society leaders, educators, and peacebuilders in Gaza. Inspired by the life and values of the late Dr. Haider Abdel Shafi—a renowned Palestinian statesman, physician, and champion of justice—the center carries forward his legacy by advancing human rights, social responsibility, and democratic participation.HCCD works to foster a culture of civic engagement, tolerance, internal civil peace, and non-violence, while actively supporting marginalized groups, particularly women, youth, and displaced communities. Operating across the Gaza Strip, the center implements programs that integrate psychological support, empowerment, cultural heritage, and social development as pathways to peace and resilience. We believe in building an inclusive and just society where all individuals—regardless of gender, background, or status—have the opportunity to thrive and contribute to shaping a better future.
