The Dr. Haider Abdul Shafi Center for Culture and Development organized a dialogue session in partnership with the Women's Affairs Center on the concept of gender equality.

The center held a dialogue session in partnership with the Women's Affairs Center, attended by a group of community leaders and elders. The facilitator of the session, Ms. Walaa Abu Omara, welcomed the presence of the community leaders and elders. The session began by discussing the important role of community leaders in maintaining social peace, and it touched upon various topics, including the societal roles of men and women and the importance of complementary roles for both genders. The discussion also addressed various societal norms that exacerbate cases of gender-based violence, in addition to appropriate solutions to reduce violence within the community.

Furthermore, the session emphasized the importance of the role of community leaders in reducing violence against women, especially considering that women have played a pivotal role in the development of both ancient and modern societies. Their presence in various aspects of life and their support for men demonstrate their essential role in bringing about positive change and their complementary role with men in society.

Participants highlighted the importance of directing the efforts of civil society institutions to address legal gaps and the need to find alternative mechanisms to traditional approaches in dealing with issues of violence against women. They also stressed the necessity of directing these efforts towards establishing a protective role for women and children who are victims of domestic violence, alongside creating a role for family counseling in cooperation with community leaders and elders due to their extensive experience in women's issues.
