Dr. Haider Abdul Shafi Center for Culture and Development concludes a training course under the supervision of the Central Elections Committee.
The Dr. Haider Abdul Shafi Center for Culture and Development concluded a two-day training course under the supervision of the Central Elections Committee. This course comes in the context of cooperation with the Central Elections Committee with the aim of raising awareness among youth and students about the importance of elections as a means of peaceful participation, rotating elites, and achieving democratic transformation in Palestinian society.
The significance of this course lies in its relevance to the agreement to hold student council elections in the Gaza Strip. The training covered proportional representation law, the state of public freedoms, campaign methods, and debates.
Mohsen Abu Ramadan, the center's director, emphasized during his intervention in the training that elections are not just a procedural means but are part of a system aimed at respecting pluralism, opinion, and dissent. He stressed the importance of distinguishing between election campaigns and hate speech.
The training was conducted by Raed Al-Samouni from the Central Elections Committee.
