Dr. Haider Abdel Shafi Center for Culture and Development, in partnership with the Middle East Foundation for Democracy and Nonviolence (MEND), presented participatory films in Cairo.
The Dr. Haider Abdel Shafi Center for Culture and Development, in collaboration with the Middle East Foundation for Democracy and Nonviolence (MEND), screened participatory films at the Palestinian Women's Union headquarters in Cairo.
Five films were shown, addressing the political and social conditions in both Gaza and Jerusalem. The films highlighted issues faced by youth and women in these regions.
The films emphasized that social and human rights problems stem from the state of occupation and the geographical and demographic division of Palestinian components, along with the policies of Judaization and isolation within the framework of the apartheid occupation system.
Mr. Mohsen Abu Ramadan, Director of the Dr. Haider Abdel Shafi Center for Culture and Development, stated that these films reflect reality and reinforce the Palestinian national and historical narrative against the occupation's narrative.
Ms. Amal Al-Agha, Director of the Union, emphasized that these participatory films are beneficial for future generations and Palestinian culture.
Ms. Fadia Salahuddin from MEND noted that using simple technical means like participatory video helps develop artistic skills and contributes to reflecting reality and shedding light on important topics.
The event was attended by a group of individuals interested in the artistic and cultural fields.
It is worth mentioning that this event is the second of its kind, following the first event where a collection of short participatory films was screened.
