In line with our belief that real change begins with the voice of the community, Dr. Haider Abdel Shafi Center for Culture and Development held a thought-provoking dialogue session titled:

"Political Representation and the Role of Youth and Women in Decision-Making... From the Margins to Influence"

The session was a true opportunity for discussion, sharing experiences, and exploring ideas to strengthen the presence of youth and women in influential spaces and decision-making roles.

This event came as a reminder of the urgent need to enhance youth participation in Palestinian representative bodies especially with the upcoming Central Council meeting. The participants emphasized that youth representation at the national level is not a luxury, but a national and social necessity to rejuvenate political life and genuinely reflect the concerns and aspirations of the younger generation.

Speakers also highlighted the importance of launching meaningful community initiatives that foster social cohesion and civil peace, bridging gaps within Palestinian society by promoting dialogue, reconciliation, and rejecting hate speech and division.

During the session, participants proposed several practical suggestions to enhance the engagement of youth and women in community work, contributing to national unity and civil peace as key pillars for protecting the social fabric.

The session included a valuable intervention from Mr. Mohsen Abu Ramadan – Director of the Dr. Haider Abdel Shafi Center – who stressed the need to support the active participation of marginalized groups, especially under the current political shifts. He emphasized the vital role of civil society in creating dialogue spaces and ensuring the voices of youth and women reach centers of influence.

A big thank you to all the attendees for the rich dialogue and inspiring ideas.
Youth and women’s voices aren’t just important, they are the foundation of change.
