"The Dr. Haider Abdul Shafi Center for Culture and Development organizes a dialogue session on ending division."

The Dr. Haider Abdul Shafi Center for Culture and Development, based in Gaza City, organized a dialogue session titled "Approach to Ending Division and Achieving Reconciliation and National Unity." The session was hosted by Dr. Ibrahim Freihat, Professor of Conflict Resolution at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, and was attended by a large number of intellectuals, youth, and civil society activists.

The session began with opening remarks by Mr. Mohsen Abu Ramadan, the center's director, who highlighted the dangers facing our people through the right-wing and fascist government of the occupation state, which adopts a plan of decisive action aimed at uprooting the idea of an independent state. He emphasized the importance of national unity and enhancing partnerships with Palestinian representative institutions in confronting these risks.

Dr. Freihat presented an approach to ending the division, pointing out that there are many factors that encourage the possibility of reconciliation, including timing, location, initiative, resources, and will. He highlighted that these factors are available and push towards achieving reconciliation, while acknowledging hindering factors such as differences in vision, including suitable forms of struggle, which can be resolved through finding a middle ground.

Dr. Freihat stressed the importance of mobilizing the role of civil society in pressuring towards ending the division, citing the experience of the General Union of Tunisian Workers. He added that this meeting came for objective reasons, including the battle of Jenin, which requires reaching a unified vision.

Participants raised numerous questions and interventions aimed at enhancing dialogue towards ending the division and achieving national unity as a key requirement to thwart the occupation's schemes and work towards achieving our national goals.
